How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Three second-half goals powered Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team to a 3-0 shutout-victory over John Jay in the opening round of the ECAC Championship Tournament on Saturday. The Dutchmen improved to 12-5-1, while the Bloodhounds' season ended at 9-8-1.

John Jay, who was playing in its first ECAC Championship in program history, was hanging with LVC in the first half. The Dutchmen dominated in scoring chances and shots, but LVC and the Bloodhounds played a scoreless half.

Just over five minutes into the second, Jake Kline broke the scoreless match when his first shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but the rebound came right back to Kline's feet and he put it home, giving the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead early in the second. 10 minutes later, LVC let a shot off, but it was saved, then a John Jay defender accidentally kicked the ball into the Bloodhounds' net, extending LVC's advantage to 2-0.

Under three minutes later, in the 63rd minute, the Dutchmen put the game out of reach when Austin Freeman scored a goal off an assist from Mitch Crane, his second of the game, and Cam Avery and the Dutchmen defense held John Jay in check for the remainder of the half to notch the 3-0 shutout.

Inside the Numbers
 - LVC held a strong edge in total shots (23-7) and shots on goal (8-1).
 - The Dutchmen put together eight corner kicks, compared to the Bloodhounds' four.
 - Avery needed to make just one save to earn the shutout.
