How It Happened
CHESTER, Pa. – Four different players scored in Lebanon Valley's 4-2 victory over Widener in the Dutchmen's final regular season game of 2017 on Saturday. LVC finished the regular season at 11-4-1, 5-3 MAC Commonwealth, while the Pride's season ended at 3-8-5, 0-5-3 MAC Commonwealth.
Austin Freeman got things going for LVC just 8:06 into the match when he beat a defender on the left side of the field and netted his third goal of the season off an assist from
Jake Kline to give the Dutchmen an early cushion at 1-0. Then, at 36:42,
Noah Resuta netted his second of the season when he found the back of the net off of a rebound. LVC went into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
Just over six minutes into the second half,
Kazuya Hirano sent a pass across the right side of the box and
Mitch Crane scored his second tally of the season to put the Dutchmen up by three goals at 3-0. The Pride, however, didn't go away quietly as Dylan Pratzner scored twice in the span of two minutes to bring Widener to within one at 3-2 with 24 minutes to go.
About a minute after Pratzner brought the Pride to within one,
Matt Prince put the game out of reach when he scored off of a rebound for his first tally of the year. LVC was able to hold off Widener for the rest of the match and came away with a 4-2 win.
Inside the Numbers
- LVC held the edge in shots at 14-11 and shots on goal at 10-6.

Cam Avery made four saves to earn his 11th win of the season.
- Corner kicks were even at 6-6.
- Prince finished with a match-high three shots on goal.
Playoff Bound
LVC will be the No. 3 seed in next week's MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. The Dutchmen will travel to No. 2 Lycoming on Wednesday at a time that is yet to be announced. The Play-In game features No. 5 Alvernia at No. 4 Arcadia on Monday with the winner taking on No. 1 Messiah on Wednesday.
