How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team fell to Arcadia by a 2-1 score on Tuesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth action. The Flying Dutchmen are now 8-4-3, 4-3-0 MACC, while the Knights now sit at 12-5, 6-1 MACC.
The match was scoreless until
Samantha Machin scored in the 38th minute, netting her second goal of the season. Despite four corner kick opportunities and three shots on goal from Arcadia, the score remained 1-0 LVC heading into halftime.
The Dutchmen defense stood tall during the beginning of the second half, with two saves from goalkeeper
Emma Strickler and two back-to-back blocked shots by LVC defenders. But Arcadia finally got on the board in the 62nd minute with a goal from Mackenzie Hoffman and again in the 70th minute with a score by Erin Vander Plaat, assisted by Karlie Flowers.
Toward the end of the second half, the Knight's defense limited scoring opportunities for the Dutchmen, allowing only one shot on goal from
Meghan Ross, and keeping LVC from evening the score.

Playoff Picture
LVC currently sits fifth in the MAC Commonwealth standings. If the season ended today, the Dutchmen would qualify for the conference tournament's play-in game. With a win over Widener in the team's final contest, Lebanon Valley can clinch a postseason berth.
