Stevenson def. Lebanon Valley 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-17)
How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley was blanked by the MAC Commonwealth's top team No. 25 Stevenson 3-0 on Wednesday night in conference volleyball action. The Dutchmen fell to 13-10, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth, while the Mustangs jumped to 24-1, 7-0 MAC Commonwealth. Despite the loss this evening, LVC has clinched a spot in the upcoming MAC Commonwealth Tournament.
It was 3-3 early on in the first set, but a 5-0 run by Stevenson gave it an 8-3 lead. The Dutchmen battled back and scored the next four points, including a kill by
Jess Attieh, to come to within a point at 8-7. Later, at 10-10, the Mustangs scored three consecutive points to go up 13-10. LVC answered again and tallied the next three points to again tie the set, this time at 13-13. With the opening set tied at 20-20, Stevenson was able to score five of the next six points, including the final three, to take the first set 25-21.
In the middle set, it was close early on at 4-4, but a huge run by the Mustangs eventually put the set out of reach for the Dutchmen. Stevenson scored eight straight to go ahead 12-4, and the Dutchmen couldn't dig out of that hole. LVC came to within five at 17-12, but were unable to get any close in the set and fell 25-15.
Early on in the third set, it was a back-and-forth affair as an
Amber Deshong kill brought LVC to within one at 7-6. The Mustangs, however, went on a 5-1 run to go up by five points at 12-7. Later, at 17-11, the Dutchmen tried to claw their way back and scored four consecutive points, including two kills from Deshong and one from
Reina Eckman, to come to within two, however LVC was unable to get any closer and dropped the set 25-17.
Inside the Numbers
- Attieh led LVC with six kills, while Deshong added five and
Nina Mentzer chipped in four.
- Eckman and Mentzer picked up two blocks each.

Jensen Burnheimer had 18 assists for the Dutchmen and added seven digs.

Abbey Barnhart led LVC with nine digs.
Playoff Picture
With two conference matches remaining, LVC is tied with Messiah at 4-2. The Dutchmen have a home match with Lycoming and an away match at Messiah remaining on its conference schedule this season.
What's Next?
LVC heads to Washington D.C. on Friday for the Gallaudet Tri-Match. The Dutchmen battle the hosts at 4 p.m. before taking on Scranton at 6 p.m.
