How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team netted two goals in the second half and blanked Stevenson 2-0 on Tuesday night in MAC Commonwealth action. The Dutchmen won their fourth-straight and improved to 10-2-1, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth and the Mustangs dropped to 3-9-2, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth.
LVC outplayed Stevenson in the first half, but the Mustangs' defense answered every Dutchmen scoring opportunity, and the teams went into halftime tied at 0-0. LVC finally broke through in the 61st minute in the second half when
Riley Katshir headed a
Kurtis Rineer free kick into the back of the net to break the 0-0 tie and put the Dutchmen ahead by one.
LVC's defense continued to limit Stevenson's high-danger scoring chances, and in the 81st minute, the Dutchmen put the game out reach when
Tyler Skye sent the ball towards the midfield and
Noah Resuta got a foot on it and pushed it past a defender. Mustangs' goalie Jake Brown came out to try to cut it off, but Resuta kicked it by the keeper and the ball trickled into the back of the net for Resuta's first collegiate goal and a 2-0 LVC led.
Cam Avery and the Dutchmen held on to the advantage for the remainder of the game and posted the shutout.
