How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley earned a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Hood on Homecoming Saturday in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer play. The Dutchmen improved to 8-2-1, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth, while the Blazers dropped to 7-7-1, 1-3-1 MAC Commonwealth.

After neither squad was able to find the back of the net for nearly 28 minutes, LVC earned a corner kick and after a scrum in front, Tanner Therit was able to deliver a ball to Braydon Shuck after the corner and Shuck found the back of the net to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 advantage. LVC and its defense held Hood scoreless for the remainder of the half.

In the second, things got pretty interesting. Six and a half minutes into the second, LVC drew a foul inside the box and Tyler Skye was awarded a penalty kick. After a brief stutter step, Skye connected on the PK to give the Dutchmen a huge 2-0 advantage. In the 61st minute, the yellow and red cards started flying, including a second yellow card on Hood's bench. Before that however, the Blazers' Clay Smith made it a one-score game in the 52nd minute.

In the 67th minute, Hood evened the score after the LVC fouled a Blazers' player in the box and Smith's penalty-kick try was good. After some more yellow and red cards, Ivan Jorel played the hero for the day when Isaiah Reid gave Jorel a pass just outside of the box, and Jorel bent it with his left foot off the goalie's fingers tips and off the post and into the back of the net, giving LVC the thrilling 3-2 win.
