How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – It seems as though Austin Freeman saves his best games for when Lebanon Valley has Alvernia on the schedule. The senior netted this afternoon's lone tally to help the Dutchmen edge the Golden Wolves 1-0 in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer action. The Dutchmen jumped to 8-2-1, 2-1 MAC Commonwealth, while Alvernia dropped to 6-7-1, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth.
Last season in the MAC Commonwealth Semifinal round, Freeman scored both of LVC's goals against Alvernia in its 2-0 victory.

This afternoon, in the 49th minute, Rob Hanosek lifted a shot on net and it was stopped by the Golden Wolves' Zach Rider, however the goalkeeper could not secure the ball and it went to Freeman, who scored and broke the 0-0 tie.

From there, the Dutchmen's stout defense took over and didn't allow any high-danger scoring chances for Alvernia. Riley Katshir, Nate Gibbons, and David Brooks, along with net-minder Cam Avery, played well throughout the entire contest en route to the shutout victory.

In the first half, although neither team could score, the Dutchmen dominated offensively and had several more scoring opportunities than Alvernia, however Rider played well and stopped several shots in the opening half.

Inside the Numbers
 - LVC held the edge in shots by a large margin at 27-9 and in shots on goal as well, at 14-4.
 - Avery won his eighth match of the season after making four saves.
 - Alvernia's Rider made 13 saves.
 - Hanosek had four shots on goal, while Tyler Skye and Freeman each had three.
