How It Happened
GENEVA, N.Y. – No. 6 Hobart jumped out to a three-goal lead and went on to defeat Lebanon Valley 7-3 on Friday night in ECAC-West men's ice hockey action. The Statesmen won their sixth-straight game and moved to 13-2-3, 5-2-0 ECACW, while the Dutchmen fell to 3-13-2, 0-8-1 ECACW.

The game was scoreless in the opening period until Jonas Toupal found the back of the net for Hobart at 13:52 to give the Statesmen the 1-0 lead, and then with 59 seconds left in the first, Mitch Beyer made it a two-goal game when he scored for Hobart, who went into the first intermission with a 2-0 advantage.

In the second, after the Statesmen scored midway through the period to make it 3-0, LVC got one back when Cole Hepler netted a short-handed tally to bring the Dutchmen to within two at 3-1 with a little less than five minutes to go in the period. The second period looked to be coming to an uneventful close, but Hobart scored with 1:29 remaining to make it a 4-1 score and Brad Nolan answered with 54 seconds remaining, but the Dutchmen still found themselves down by two at 4-2 heading into the third period.
