How It Happened
OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Sara Tarbert scored 39 points for Stevenson to power the Mustangs past Lebanon Valley 83-64 on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's basketball action. Stevenson improved to 13-6, 8-2 MAC Commonwealth, while the Dutchmen slipped to 8-11, 5-5 MAC Commonwealth.
In the early going, the game was close as the game was tied on four separate occasions in the first seven minutes of action. After Tarbert made two free throws with 1:07 remaining in the quarter,
Caroline Scarff connected on a layup with 38 seconds to go, giving the lead back to LVC at 17-16, but Tarbert netted a layup with three seconds to go to give Stevenson a slight 18-17 lead.
The Dutchmen continued to hang tough in the early stages of the second quarter and another layup from Scarff put LVC up 24-22 with 8:40 remaining. The Dutchmen continued to keep the score close when
Hilary Yoh made two free throws from the charity stripe to bring LVC within three at 32-29 with 2:04 to go, but Stevenson ended the quarter on a 6-2 spurt and the Mustangs led 38-31 after one half of action.
Stevenson began to pull away in the third quarter, starting the quarter on a 10-5 run to take a 48-36 lead with 6:38 to go. The Mustangs went on to double-up LVC in the third quarter, outscoring the Dutchmen 24-12 in the period to take a 62-43 advantage heading into the final quarter. LVC was unable to mount a comeback in the fourth and Stevenson went on to win 84-63.
Inside the Numbers
- Scarff was spectacular for the Dutchmen, netting a career-high 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting in 28 minutes of action. The rookie added four rebounds and an assists for LVC.

Lexie Lantz (12), and
Hilary Yoh (10) were also in double digits in scoring for the Dutchmen. Yoh added 10 rebounds for the double-double.
- For Stevenson, Tarbert scored 39 points on 15-of-26 shooting while adding 13 rebounds and four assists. Hannah Crist added 13 points for the Mustangs.
- Stevenson held the slight edge in rebounds at 43-40.
Lantz Approaching History
With her 12 points tonight, Lantz needs just eight points to become the 13th player in LVC women's basketball history to score 1,000 points or more.
