How It Happened
Despite a season-high 36 points from Sam Light and a double-double from Andy Orr, Lebanon Valley couldn't hold off a gritty Stevenson squad in a down-to-the-wire 74-71 loss to the Mustangs in Owings Mills, Md. on Wednesday night.

The Flying Dutchmen (11-8, 5-5 MAC Commonwealth) led by as many as seven points with 12:09 remaining but Stevenson scored 11 of the game's next 13 points over the ensuing 2:22 to reclaim the lead at 56-54 with 9:47 left to play.

A Light layup tied the game and Orr's layup in transition high off the glass put LVC back out in front at 58-56 with less than six minutes left on the clock.

The teams traded the lead seven times in the final six minutes, with LVC's penultimate advantage coming when Orr was able to convert a finger roll off a find by Marquis Davis with 1:50 remaining. Following a pair of Cliff Cornish free throws on the other end, Will Boccanfuso reclaimed the lead for the Dutchmen when he calmly knocked down a pair of foul shots to make it 70-69 at the 1:06 mark.

Michael Byrd played the role of hero for Stevenson when he buried a three-ball in the corner on the team's next trip down the floor to put the home team ahead 72-70 with 51 seconds left. After Davis made the second of two free throws, Ben Wiebusch connected on an open jumper with 8.2 seconds remaining to give SU a three-point cushion.

Light got off a contested three-pointer from straightaway while the final seconds ticked away but his attempt was off the mark and the Mustangs were able to grab the rebound and secure the upset victory.

Light netted 21 of his 36 points in the first half and closed out the opening 20 minutes with an incredible half-court buzzer-beater while being fouled on the far side of the half-court line. His amazing mid-court three-ball tied the score at 34-34 heading into halftime.

Orr was held to just seven points and grabbed just two rebounds before the break before exploding on the offensive end in the second half to the tune of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

A low scoring affair in the early going, both teams found their rhythm as the first half wore down. After LVC led 12-10 midway through the period, the squads combined to score 46 points before the halftime buzzer sounded.

Inside the Numbers
- As a team, the Dutchmen struggled from three-point territory and shot just 21.4 percent (3-14) from beyond the arc; far below their season average of 41.2 percent.
- LVC missed 12 free throws and finished shooting just 66.7 percent (24-36) from the foul line.
- Stevenson won the rebounding battle 42-38.
- Sam Light's 36 points were the most he's scored since netting a career-high 39 against Hood 363 days ago. He also added seven rebounds and a team-high three steals.
- Andy Orr recorded his second consecutive double-double and his fifth of the season thanks to 22 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
- Starters Marquis Davis (5), Travis Conrad (3), and Will Boccanfuso (3) combined for just 11 points, while Caleb Barwin's two points was the only scoring contribution LVC got from its bench.
- The Dutchmen have now dropped back-to-back outings for the first time since late November.
- The team's most recent loss is Lebanon Valley's seventh of the season coming by six points or less.
- Save for a season-opening defeat at Division I George Mason, LVC's losses have come by an average of just 4.1 points.
- Cameron Hayes led the way for the Mustangs with a team-high 20 points.
- Michael Byrd (13), Cliff Cornish (11), and Ben Wiebusch (11) also reached the double-digit scoring mark for Stevenson.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return to Sorrentino Gymnasium to host Hood in a pivotal MAC Commonwealth contest on Saturday afternoon. It will serve as the program's annual Hot Dog Frank Day and the matchup is LVC's first-ever Make-A-Wish Game.
