How It Happened
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley picked up a valuable 67-56 conference victory over MAC Commonwealth foe Alvernia on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21.
The game started out close with the score tied at 7-7 with 5:36 remaining in the first. After LVC went up 14-9 thanks to a trey from
Taylor Troutman, and jumpers from
Hilary Yoh and
Morgan Bamberger with 3:11 to go, the Crusaders came right back and tied it up again at 14-14 with 1:43 left. Two late free throws from Liv Andrefski gave Alvernia a narrow 16-14 advantage after one quarter of play.
A big 13-4 run to begin the second quarter put the Dutchmen up comfortably at 29-18 with 4:41 left in the second, and LVC maintained its double-digit lead into halftime, up 38-26 heading into the break.
For the majority of the third quarter, the Dutchmen held a big lead and were up by as many as 18 at 53-35 with 2:49 left, however Alvernia refused to go away and ended the third quarter on a 13-2 run to cut LVC's lead to seven at 55-48.
In the fourth, after the Crusaders cut it down to five (57-52) with 8:55 remaining, the Dutchmen were able to jump back to a comfy lead and went on to win 67-56.
Inside the Numbers
- Four Dutchmen players reached the double-digit scoring mark in the win, with
Lexie Lantz netting 19, Yoh dropping 13, and
Becky Evans and
Anne Lehr each scoring 10. Lantz added 10 boards for the double-double as well and Yoh and
Jasmine Copeland each registered eight rebounds.
- LVC outshot Alvernia 40-percent to 31.7-percent.
- For the Crusaders, Maya Cooper and Miranda Hoover scored 16 apiece and Andrefski added 10.
- The Dutchmen outrebounded Alvernia 46-45.
Who's Next?
LVC heads down to Owings Mills, Md. on Wednesday, looking to avenge Dec. 7th's 55-49 loss to Stevenson. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
