How It Happened
Utica scored three goals in the opening period en route to a 7-1 victory over Lebanon Valley on Tuesday afternoon in women's ice hockey action. The Pioneers, who received votes in the most recent NCAA polls, improved to 9-5 and the Dutchmen fell to 2-12.

Utica didn't waste much time finding the back of the net, as Lauren Patterson scored just 56 seconds in to give the Pioneers an early 1-0 lead. MacKenzie Bokina, however, anticipated a pass by one of the Utica defenders and picked it off to create a breakaway and skated down the right side and scored over the goalie's left shoulder to tie the game at 1-1 at 3:14.

Bokina's tally was LVC's only of the game and Utica went on to score two more times in the first period and then the Pioneers netted two power-play goals in the second, followed by two more scores in the third period for the 7-1 win.

Inside the Numbers
 - Liz D'Ginto registered three shots on goal, while Bokina added one shot on goal and went 4-for-5 from the faceoff circle.

 - For Utica, Patterson finished with two goals while Jane Pagano recorded two goals and an assist. Samantha Husak and Meghan Power added two assists each.
 - Amanda Lupo started and earned the victory after making two saves in 35:30 of action. Briah Reilly relieved her for the final 24:30.
