MADISON, N.J. – After nearly a month and a half layoff, Lebanon Valley was back in the pool for the first time in 2017 on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 14. The Flying Dutchmen split with FDU-Florham as the women's team earned a decisive 145-81 victory, while the men dropped a 137.5-111.5 decision to the Devils.

LVC's women opened the event with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay as Madison Martin, D'Anna Sydow, Katie Frace, and Julianna Currie combined to swim a 2:13.76.

Sydow picked up another victory when she won the 100-yard backstroke by touching in 1:10.76, with teammates Casey Burke, Sam Ritchie, and Jessica Zeiner rounding out the event.

Frace was the lone swimmer to take on the 200-yard butterfly and she finished off the race in 3:05.87, earning the Dutchmen nine points in the process. Martin also picked up a solo win, with hers coming in the 200-yard IM thanks to a time of 2:34.70.

The women capped their day with the foursome of Kyra Valent, Katie Gingrich, Leslie Hiller, and Currie combining to swim a 1:57.86 and win the 200-yard freestyle relay ahead of teammates Catherine Orlando, Marie Gorman, Marie Grenchik, and Emily Walak.

As he has for much of the season, Ian Lloyd led the way for the men's squad, racking up three solo victories on the day. He won the 200-yard butterfly in convincing fashion, topping FDU's Nick DiBenedetto by 17 seconds before picking up a win in the 100-yard fly thanks to a blistering time of 54.93. He finished up with a 200-yard IM victory that saw him touch in 2:07.97, nearly 13 seconds faster than Stephen O'Brien, the runner-up from Florham.

Garrett Collins and Bryce Betz finished 1-2 in the 100-yard backstroke, separated by little more than a second. Chris Kurtz and Betz came home back-to-back in the 200-yard back, with the Devils' Craig Bucsak finishing a distant third.

The men wrapped up the meet with another victory, this time in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Collins, Kurtz, Lloyd, and Ari Gouskos combining to touch in 1:35.48.

LVC returns to the Fishbowl at the Arnold Sports Center on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 21 when the teams host Messiah for the first of back-to-back home events next weekend.
