ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley College women's and men's swimming teams are set to return to the pool and will look to deliver productive 2026-27 seasons.
Head Coach Mary Gardner conveyed that she is excited about the potential of both squads and looks forward to seeing what the Flying Dutchmen accomplish this winter.
"I would like everybody to find their strengths and capitalize on them," Gardner said. "They are hardworking, conscientious, and kind people, and they are setting goals on their own. So, I want them to find their success their way."
Lebanon Valley's men's swimming team recorded three wins last season, including victories over FDU-Florham and Hood College in Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) competition. In 2025-26, Dutchmen Women's Swimming also tallied a pair of wins during conference meets, defeating King's College and Hood.
The roster of Lebanon Valley's women's swimming team features 18 returners and nine newcomers, including eight first-years. The program has 10 swimmers coming back who qualified for the MAC Championships last winter. The Dutchmen will particularly rely on seniors Noryan Mitchell and Karly Kile, as well as juniors Jana Shoffner and Marina Weidman. Mitchell and Weidman delivered strong efforts at the conference championship meet, contributing to the 200-yard freestyle relay team that placed ninth, the 400-yard medley relay team that finished ninth, the 200-yard medley relay team that placed 10th, and the 400-yard freestyle relay team that finished 10th. Shoffner was also a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 200-yard medley relay, and the 400-yard freestyle relay teams at the MAC Championships.
Dutchmen Men's Swimming brings back nine student-athletes from last season and is joined by 10 newcomers, including six first-years. Five of the returning swimmers competed for LVC at the MAC Championships in February. Lebanon Valley will look to junior Owen Fastrich and sophomores Ryan Kuffa and Ryan Moreno to make an impact. At last year's conference championship meet, Kuffa, Fastrich, and Moreno contributed to the 400-yard medley relay team that placed 10th and the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished 11th.
Gardner also said that she has been impressed by the leadership of both teams thus far during practice, which she believes will serve the program well during the campaign.
"Their work ethic is great, and their willingness to help others is going to help the team improve this year," Gardner said. "The upperclassmen are helping tremendously. It makes it really enjoyable for me to walk on the deck and work with nice people."
The Dutchmen will open the season and conference competition on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., when the teams will take on King's in Wilkes-Barre. Another key date on the schedule is Saturday, Nov. 7, at 2:30 p.m., as LVC will travel to Stevenson University for a tri-meet against the Mustangs and King's.
Lebanon Valley will start the second semester with a tri-meet at York College of Pennsylvania, against both the Spartans and Hood on Jan. 16, at 1 p.m. The program will wrap up the regular season at Stevenson's Last Chance Qualifier Time Trials on Saturday, Jan. 30. The Dutchmen will then compete in the MAC Championships from Thursday, Feb. 11 to Sunday, Feb. 14, at the Graham Aquatic Center in York.
