How It Happened
REISTERSTOWN, Md. – Lebanon Valley succumbed to three goals in the third period by Stevenson en route to a 6-3 loss on Tuesday night in ECAC West men's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen fell to 3-9-2, 0-7-1 ECACW, while Stevenson improved to 7-5-2, 3-4-1 ECACW.
The Mustangs broke a 0-0 tie 11:53 into the first when Jordan Watt scored, however LVC struck back with just over a minute remaining when
Bryan Hovanec scored his sixth goal of the season from
Jake Thomas and
Matthew Reno, sending both teams into the locker room tied at 1-1.
Stevenson jumped back into the lead at 2-1 just 57 seconds into the middle period and added another goal 27 seconds later to go up 2-1. 1:15 into the third, the Mustangs went up 4-1 when Dominic Brenza netted a goal, and at 12:53, Jake Lainesse made it a four-goal lead at 5-1 for Stevenson. Late in the third, the Dutchmen attempted the comeback as
Brad Nolan scored on the power play from
Cole Hepler and
Brett Johnson, making it 5-2, and with a minute and 17 seconds to go, Johnson scored another PP goal for LVC from
Brennan Thompson and Hepler to make it 5-3. With 29 seconds to go, Stevenson put the game out of reach with another tally.
Inside the Numbers
 - Johnson led the way for LVC with seven shots on goal, followed by Hepler with five. Nolan, Hovanec,
PJ Hefferin, and
Zach McKown all notched two shots on net.

Joel Eisenhower suffered the loss despite making 38 saves between the pipes.
 - For Stevenson, Jacob Caffrey earned the win and made 26 saves.
 - Johnson went 7-for-9 from the faceoff circle and Hepler was 12-for-20. Total faceoffs were tied at 40-40.

LVC heads to New York this weekend for two games. The Dutchmen will take on SUNY Geneseo on Friday at 7:15 p.m. before traveling to battle The College of Brockport Saturday at 3 p.m.
