How It Happened
GENESEO, N.Y. – Lebanon Valley suffered a 7-2 defeat to SUNY Geneseo on Friday night in non-conference men's ice hockey action. The Dutchmen fell to 3-10-2 and the Knights jumped to 10-2-2.
Not much action occurred in the first period, as Geneseo scored the lone goal 3:58 into the first when David Szmyd scored and the Knights took the one-goal advantage heading into the second period, keeping the game within striking distance.
Geneseo added two more tallies in the second, a goal by Tyson Empey at 3:44 followed by another score from Szmyd. LVC got on the board and made it a two goal game at 3-1 when
PJ Hefferin found the back of the net off assists from
Mike Straub and
Brett Johnson.
The Knights, however, went back up by three at 4-1 when Stephen Collins scored a power play goal for the comfortable lead heading into the last period.
The Knights would add three more goals in the third and
Travis Acker netted a goal from
Jared Karas with 57 seconds left, but Geneseo held on for the 7-2 win.
Inside the Numbers
 - Geneseo, who competes in the SUNYAC, outshot LVC 41-24.

Joel Eisenhower (2-6-1) made 34 stops on the evening.
 - The Knights totaled nine penalties compared to the Dutchmen's seven.
