How It Happened
Lebanon Valley began its 2016 campaign in exciting fashion, picking up a 2-1 overtime victory over the host team on day one of the Drew Fall Festival on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 3.
Maddie Fox scored the game-winner with 1:03 remaining in the extra session after
Brittany Fleisher found her following an LVC fast break. Fleisher netted the first goal of the season for the Flying Dutchmen (1-0), a rebounded equalizer with 6:43 left in the first half.
The Rangers (0-1) got on the board first when Madi Sheetz cleaned up a defected attempt from six yards out in the game's 21st minute. Audrey Carr assisted on the score.
It Was Over When…
Late in overtime, the Dutchmen got out on the fast break and
Maddie Fox netted the game-winning goal off a find from
Brittany Fleisher to seal the season-opening victory with 1:03 left in the extra session.
Inside the Numbers
- Saturday's victory was the first for
Amber Corcoran '09 since taking over as the program's head coach. Â
- LVC dominated on the offensive end, getting off 33 shots (24 SOG) compared to just three (2 SOG) by Drew.
- The Dutchmen were awarded 22 penalty corners, while the Rangers did not attempt a single one.
