How It Happened
ASTON, Pa. – Lebanon Valley defeated both Frostburg State and Neumann by a 3-0 score to sweep at the Neumann Tri-Match on Saturday afternoon. The Dutchmen upped their win streak to seven matches and now sit at 9-4 overall.
Frostburg Match
Against the Bobcats, LVC's
Jess Attieh ripped a kill late in the first set to bring the Dutchmen to within one at 21-20. After Frostburg went ahead 22-20, four consecutive points from LVC, including three
Greta Weidemoyer kills, made it a 24-22 match and two points later, Weidemoyer finished off the set with a kill, clinching it at 25-23.
In the second, the Dutchmen built a 15-8 lead, but the Bobcats crept back in it with an 8-2 run, decreasing the lead to just one at 17-16. LVC, however, never let Frostburg tie it up and eventually went on to take the second at 25-20.
The third and final set was the closest one of the match and neither team was able to lead by more than six. With the Dutchmen up 21-15, the Bobcats rattled off three points in a row, causing an LVC timeout. Later, with the Dutchmen up 23-18, five straight Frostburg points tied the set up at 23-23. After the teams traded points and it got to 25-25,
Reina Eckman and
Jess Attieh drilled back-to-back kills, clinching the set and the match for LVC.
Inside the Numbers
- Attieh led the offense with 19 kills, while Weidemoyer had 17.
- Weidemoyer added 24 assists and eight digs, while
Erin Koons notched 15 assists.

Morgan Webb dug out a match-high 32 balls, while Weidemoyer and
Abbey Barnhart added eight apiece.
Neumann Match
The match against the Knights was a little less heart-wrenching than the Frostburg match. In the opening set, the Dutchmen scored the first six points, however Neumann eventually evened the set at 9-9. With the Knights up 16-15, LVC answered with six consecutive points to take a 21-16 lead. The Dutchmen went on to take the first set 25-19.
In the second set, LVC led 15-13, however four straight Neumann points put the Knights on top at 17-15. The resilient Dutchmen then scored three points in a row to go back up by two at 19-17. Neumann came to within three at 23-20, but Weidemoyer and
Amber Deshong responded with a kill each to clinch the second set at 25-20.
The third set was close in the middle with the Dutchmen ahead 13-10. Later in the set, the Knights were able to tie things up at 18-18. LVC then finished the set on a 7-1 run, scoring the match's final five points which was capped off by a Barnhart service ace to win the match for the Dutchmen.
Inside the Numbers
- Attieh registered a match-high 10 kills, while Deshong and Weidemoyer posted seven each.
- Weidemoyer (16) and
Erin Koons (11) were both in double digits in assists.
- Webb had 16 digs and Barnhart chipped in 10.
