How It Happened
GLENSIDE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley earned a tough win on the road after the Dutchmen narrowly defeated Arcadia 3-2 on Wednesday night in MAC Commonwealth women's volleyball action. LVC stayed undefeated in conference action and moved to 7-4, 3-0 MACC, while the Knights fell to 5-7, 1-2 MACC.
In the fifth and deciding set, the Dutchmen jumped out to a 6-3 lead, capped off by a kill by
Jess Attieh. After
Melanie Phifer served up an ace and
Amber Deshong notched a kill for the 8-3 advantage, Arcadia scored three in a row to make it 8-6, but Deshong registered another kill to make it a 9-6 fifth set and the Knights followed with a timeout.
Coming out of the timeout, LVC Arcadia scored three of the next four to come to within one of LVC at 10-9. The Dutchmen answered with two consecutive points to make it 12-9 and after the Knights made it 12-10, LVC scored the final three points of the match, as Attieh finished off the Knights with a kill from Greta Weidemyoer.
Inside the Numbers
- Attieh was a force to be reckoned with offensively tonight, going for a career-high 24 kills with a .383 percentage. She added two block assists and four digs for the Dutchmen.
- Weidemoyer was also in double digits in kills with 13 and the captain added a team-high 23 assists.

Erin Koons had 22 assists and six digs, while
Morgan Webb registered a team-high 21 digs.

Abbey Barnhart finished with 12 digs and a match-high six service aces.
- LVC held the slight edge in total kills at 54-52.
- Arcadia narrowly led in total digs at 60-57.
- This is the second consecutive year that the Dutchmen have begun a season with a 3-0 record in MAC Commonwealth action.

LVC ventures to Aston, Pa. this Saturday for a tri-match at Neumann University. At 1 p.m. the Dutchmen take on Frostburg State before battling the hosts at 3 p.m.
