How It Happened
LANGHORNE, Pa. –
Riley Katshir broke a 1-1 tie with just over four minutes remaining in regulation to help Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team edge out Cairn University by a 2-1 score on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action. The Dutchmen improved their record to 6-1, while the Highlanders dropped to 3-4-1.
In the 86th minute of action,
Jake Kline lofted a ball that hit the crossbar, but when the ball landed, it found the foot of
Riley Katshir who controlled the ball in the box and sent it past Cairn's goalie Matt Heater and into the back of the net to go break the 1-1 tie and give LVC a late lead, which it held on to give the Dutchmen the thrilling 2-1 victory.
It was the Highlanders who lit up the scoreboard first when Zack Nelson received a pass from Joey Weaver off a corner kick and Nelson snuck one past
Cam Avery for the 1-0 advantage in the 31st minute. Just over nine minutes later, in the 40th minute, Youseff Ouayakhaf evened the score when
Mitch Crane sent a ball from the right side to the top of the box and Ouyakhaf took advantage of the solid pass and scored.
