How It Happened
Lebanon Valley cruised past non-conference opponent Summit University of Pa. on Tuesday afternoon, downing the Defenders by an 11-1 score. The Dutchmen jumped to 5-1, while Summit dropped to 0-5.
Sammy Bost got the scoring going early with a tally in sixth minute of play off a scrum in the box. Later, in the ninth minute,
Rileigh Jo Evitts scored off a turnover by the Defenders for the very early 2-0 Dutchmen advantage. Then, in the 14th minute, Bost notched her second of the half thanks to an assist from Johnna Garbick, and less than a minute later, Evitts added her second of the game off a pass from Bost for the 4-0 lead.
Kirstyn Sokolsky added a goal in the 27th minute, and Evitts recorded the hat trick in just 27 minutes of action, as LVC led big at 6-0 at the end of the first half.
Shortly after the second half began, Bost recorded her second hat trick in the last three games after she beat the goalie off a great pass from Evitts for the 7-0 lead and Garbrick made it 8-0 in the 55th minute with a pretty goal from
Teanna Shutt.
After Bost scored her fourth of the game to make it 9-0,
Samantha Machin got in on the action and beat the goalie off an assist from Cheyanne Scott. Evitts matched Bost's output and scored her fourth of the game in the 67th minute to complete LVC's dominant offensive performance.
Summit scored a goal in the final 30 seconds of action when Emily Reilly lofted a shot from the far left side that caught the Dutchmen defense by surprise.
