How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's recent hot streak continued with a 1-0 victory over St. Lawrence on day one of the annual William Smith Classic on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 17.

Rachel Gorman netted her first goal of the season in the game's sixth minute off an assist from Hannah Simon following a penalty corner. It proved to be the game-winning score for the Flying Dutchmen (5-1) as neither team converted an attempt the rest of the way.

The Saints' final shot on goal came in the 57th minute but LVC goalkeeper Sarah DiMaggio turned away Bailey Sherwin's effort to keep the shutout intact. St. Lawrence (3-2) failed to get a legitimate offensive look the rest of the way.

Winning the Close Ones
LVC continues to show a propensity to win close games, as all five of the team's victories this season have come by the slimmest of margins.

Inside the Numbers
- Saturday's win was LVC's first shutout victory since a 6-0 blanking of Hood last October.
- LVC is in the midst of a four-game win streak.
- For freshman Hannah Simon, her assist was the first point of her young collegiate career.
- The Dutchmen dominated on the offensive end and finished with advantages in shots (25-5) and SOG (18-3).
- Lebanon Valley forced eight penalty corners, while the Saints were awarded three attempts.
- Sarah DiMaggio had to make just three saves in goal to preserve her first shutout win of the season.
- St. Lawrence goalkeeper Julia Hudson was strong in defeat, making 16 saves on the day.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen finish up their weekend at the William Smith Classic on Sunday afternoon when they take on the hosts at 2 p.m.
