How It Happened
Lebanon Valley scored two half goals and held on in crunch time to earn a 2-1 victory over Haverford at Arnold Field on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10.

It took the Flying Dutchmen (2-1) a matter of moments to strike first, when Caity Stevens redirected a Maddie Fox blast from outside the circle into the back of the box just 1:11 into the contest.

Rachel Youngs netted her first goal of the young season in the 26th minute when she gathered a rebounded ball in front and sniped her attempt past Haverford goalkeeper Danielle Rette to give LVC a two-score cushion heading into halftime.

The Fords (2-2) made a game of it when Lucy Tortolani corralled a loose ball in traffic in front of the Lebanon Valley goal and pushed her shot across the goal line with 3:48 left to play.
It proved too little, too late as the Dutchmen defense clamped down when it mattered to preserve the team's home-opening victory.

Inside the Numbers
- All three of LVC's 2016 victories have come by 2-1 decisions.
- Both Caity Stevens and Rachel Youngs notched their first goals of the season in the victory.
- Haverford outshot the Dutchmen 9-6, while both teams recorded the same amount of shots on target with five apiece.
- The Fords earned twice as many penalty corners as Lebanon Valley at a 6-3 margin.
- LVC goalkeeper Sarah DiMaggio made a season-high four saves in the win. Haverford goalkeepers combined to make three stops.
- The Dutchmen have won their last four home openers dating back to 2012.
