How It Happened
Lebanon Valley erased an early deficit and held off a late Marywood rally in a 9-7 victory in the team's final non-conference outing of the spring on Wednesday afternoon.
Trailing 2-0 entering the third inning, the Flying Dutchmen (16-20) posted a crooked number by scoring four runs in the bottom of the frame.
Zach Smith got LVC on the board with an RBI single and
Greg Orlando's double plated Smith and
Colin Albright to put Lebanon Valley out in front for the first time.
Jacob Williams capped the scoring in the stanza with an RBI single to make it 4-2 after three.
A bases-loaded walk with
Brett Fundell at the plate drove in another run for the Dutchmen in the fourth and Orlando tallied another RBI with a sacrifice fly to left field that allowed Albright to come across. Williams worked the team's second bases-loaded walk to increase the advantage to 7-3.
The Pacers (10-18) cut the deficit to two after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the fifth before drawing even with a pair of RBI doubles in the top of the sixth.
LVC responded in the bottom half when Smith drove in Fundell with his second RBI single of the afternoon before a Marywood error allowed Mike Puglisi to push across as an insurance run in the seventh to finish off the game's scoring.
