How It Happened
FREDERICK, Md. – Lebanon Valley racked up 15 hits and
Michael Houseal pitched a complete game as the Dutchmen downed Hood College 6-2 in MAC Commonwealth baseball action on Friday afternoon. LVC improved to 17-20, 8-11 MAC Commonwealth, while the Blazers fell to 14-24, 5-14 MAC Commonwealth.
In today's victory,
Michael Puglisi became the fourth Dutchmen of the season to record his 100th career knock. He joined
Zac Edwards,
Brett Fundell, and
Zach Smith.
LVC got on the board quickly when
Colin Albright singled home Puglisi in the top of the first to make it 1-0, and Albright later scored on a passed ball to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 advantage. LVC held the 2-0 lead until the bottom of the fourth when Gall homered to make it 2-1, and in the bottom of the fifth, Brooks Warrenfeltz singled to score Esposito, tying things up at 2-2.
From there, the Blazers' offense was shut down for the remainder of the game by Houseal. The Dutchmen scored once in sixth off an RBI-single by Puglisi, and again in the seventh when Phil Berry singled down the left field line to make it 4-2. LVC added some insurance in the eighth when Fundell hit a sacrifice fly, followed by a
Greg Orlando single that scored Marshall Kiessling.
