Zach Smith recorded the 100th hit of his collegiate career as Lebanon Valley cruised past Muhlenberg by a 9-2 score on Tuesday afternoon. The Dutchmen improved their record to 6-10, while the Mules evened their record and sit at 9-9.
It was a scoreless game until the top of the third when
Brett Fundell ripped a two-RBI single to right center to score
Michael Puglisi and
Zac Edwards for a 2-0 Dutchmen lead. In the top of the fourth, LVC extended the lead when
Tregg Liebel recorded the first hit of his career, an RBI-single to right field, making it 3-0 Dutchmen. After Edwards reached on a fielder's choice that scored
Philip Berry, Puglisi hit a sacrifice fly for the 5-0 advantage.
The Mules got one back in the bottom of the fourth, but in the top of the sixth, Puglisi hit an RBI-single to left field, making it a 6-1 game. Then in the seventh, the Dutchmen put away Muhlenberg for good as Z. Smith roped a two-RBI double to left field to score
Joshua Marcelli and Fundell.
At the Plate - Z. Smith finished 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI. His third hit was the 100th of his career, 17 at Mount St. Mary's and 83 as a Dutchmen.
- Edwards, Puglisi, and Liebel each recorded two hits. Edwards leads the team in hits with 19, while Puglisi is close behind with 18.

Logan Stover got the first hit of his career this afternoon, a single through the left side in the top of the eighth.

Jacob Williams was stellar on the mound today for LVC. He earned the first win of his young career by throwing all nine innings and giving up just one earned run while striking out a career-high 11 batters.
Who's Next?The Dutchmen jump back into MAC Commonwealth action by heading to Reading on Thursday for a matchup with Albright. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
