How It Happened
Lebanon Valley picked up a 74-54 victory over non-conference opponent Cairn at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon in the team's final home game of the calendar year.

The Flying Dutchmen (5-5) clung to a four-point advantage with 2:58 left in the first half before putting together a game-changing 11-0 run heading into the break, capped by Andy Orr's buzzer-beating layup as time expired.

LVC scored eight of the first 11 points after halftime and a Travis Conrad offensive rebound and tip-in off an Orr miss put the home team ahead 48-28 with 17:03 left to play. The pair switched roles later in the second half as it was Orr's put back of a Conrad miss at the 15:46 mark that increased the Dutchmen advantage to 21.

The Highlanders (2-6) showed some fight and clawed back into it thanks to a 12-2 run over the next five minutes and change, capped by a pair of Jeremiah Harris free throws that cut the deficit to a more manageable 55-44 with 10:46 remaining.

LVC answered when Orr passed out of a double team and found Caleb Barwin for a three-ball and Sam Light converted back-to-back layups on the team's next two possessions to push the advantage back to a more comfortable 18 points.

The Dutchmen defense clamped down and held Cairn to just 10 points in the final 10:46, while Light's jumper with 2:39 left and a Barwin free throw at the 1:56 mark put a bow on the victory and gave Lebanon Valley its largest lead of the contest at 23.

It Was Over When…
After leading by as many as 21 points, Lebanon Valley saw its lead begin to dissipate when the Highlanders put together a 12-2 run midway through the second half. Andy Orr returned to the game following a brief breather and the LVC offense followed suit as Caleb Barwin connected from beyond the arc off an Orr assist and Sam Light got to the rim for layups on back-to-back possessions to push the lead back to 18 with 8:32 left to play. Cairn never threatened as seriously again.
