How It Happened
Lebanon Valley fell to Utica by a 9-0 score despite an incredible effort from
Jillian Moffat on Sunday afternoon at Hersheypark Arena. The Dutchmen fell to 2-8 and the Pioneers improved to 6-4.
Moffat was amazing in net for LVC today, stopping 90 of Utica's 99 shots. 90 saves in one game is tied for the second-most in one game in NCAA III history. The record for most saves in a game in DIII history is 101, set by Chatham University's in October of 2005.
Making a big number of saves is nothing new to the freshman. Moffat has made at least 75 saves in four separate games this season.
This afternoon, Utica scored three in the first and followed with two more in the second. The Pioneers then went on to tally four goals in the third period. Moffat made 31 saves in the first, 26 in the second, and 33 more in the final period.
Inside the Numbers
-
MacKenzie Bokina recorded two shots on goal and
Eleanor Donaher and
Nikki Lloyd each tallied one shot on goal.
- For the Pioneers, Emily Coope recorded a hat trick and Gabrielle Schnepp added two goals. Veronique Lortie, Meghan Power, Kelly Critzer, Elizabeth Donaher, and Jennifer Arts all had two assists for Utica.
Who's Next?
The Dutchmen are off until after the New Year. LVC will play host to Stevenson University on Jan. 6 at 4 p.m.
