How It Happened
NASHUA, N.H. – In its first season back to the NCAA, Lebanon Valley's men's ice hockey team finally got over the hump and won its first NCAA game since the 2007-08 season on Saturday night, defeating Daniel Webster 6-4 in non-conference action. The Dutchmen took the giant leap to 1-7-2, while the Eagles dropped to 1-11.
Tonight was a tale of two teams going in opposite directions, with LVC returning to the NCAA and Daniel Webster closing at the end of the school year.
Brett Johnson got the Dutchmen going at 12:20 of the first when he netted a power-play goal from 
Jared Karas and 
Cole Hepler, giving LVC the early advantage. Daniel Webster, however, evened the score at 1-1 less than two minutes later with an unassisted Matt Fitzpatrick goal, and 49 seconds later, the Eagles took the lead with a power-play tally at 14:51. 
Brad Nolan responded for LVC just a minute and nine seconds later to tie the evenly-matched first period at 2-2 off assists from Karas and Acker. Daniel Webster went back ahead by one at 17:15 with a goal and took a 3-2 lead heading into the second.
Jake Thomas struck 3:44 into the second period to once again tie the contest at 3-3 from Acker and 
Bryan Hovanec, and 
Brennan Thompson gave LVC the lead for good late in the period (17:18) when he potted a goal from 
Nick Skerlick and goalie 
Joel Eisenhower.
In the third with the Dutchmen still up 4-3, Acker scored on the power play from Johnson to make it 5-3. After the Eagles brought their deficit back to one with a goal at 4:48, Thompson put the nail in the coffin at 11:10 when he netted his second of the game from Skerlick and 
John Wise. LVC went on to hold on for the exciting 6-4 win.
Inside the Numbers
 - Thompson finished with a pair of goals, whle Acker, Skerlick, and Karas all notched two assists.
 - Acker, Hovanec, and 
Zach Yingst all finished with a +2 rating.
 - LVC led in total faceoff wins at 40-30. Hepler was stellar from inside the circle and went 8-for-12.
 - Eisenhower earned the first-ever victory of his career in a 17-save effort.

Don Parsons. "I knew we turned a corner against Stevenson last weekend. I am happy for our players, they have worked very hard every game and finally see results. Tomorrow is another day."

LVC is back at again tomorrow up in New Hampshire. The Dutchmen will take on Southern New Hampshire University at 2:30 p.m.
