Volleyball Advances to ECAC Quarterfinal

Lebanon Valley def. Rutgers-Camden 3-1 (16-25, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21)

How It Happened
ARLINGTON, Va. – Lebanon Valley's volleyball team dropped the opening set but dominated the next three to defeat Rutgers-Camden 3-1 in the First Round of the 2016 ECAC Division III Tournament on Wednesday night. The Dutchmen (22-10) will take on the hosts, Marymount University, in the quarterfinal round on Saturday at 11 a.m., while the Scarlet Raptors' season ended at 16-16.

The opening set was tied at 9-9 before Rutgers rattled off four in a row to go up 13-9. LVC responded with a 7-3 run to tie it up again at 16-16 thanks to an attack error by the Scarlet Raptors. From there however, Rutgers went on to score the set's final nine points and took the first set 25-16.

The Dutchmen didn't let the slow start phase them and they were tied at 10-10 with the Scarlet Raptors in the second. A big 8-4 run put LVC on top at 18-14 and the Dutchmen went on to score six en route to a 25-15 second-set win.

LVC was in cruise control in the third set, jumping out to a 13-7 lead before increasing the lead later at 20-11. The Dutchmen went on to take the set with ease at 25-13 to go up 2-1 in the match.

The fourth and final set was close in the early going at 12-8 in favor of LVC, however Rutgers hung around and eventually tied things up at 18-18. A huge 3-0 run by the Dutchmen followed, which included two Scarlet Raptors' errors and a Morgan Webb service ace to put LVC ahead 21-18. Rutgers came to within two at 23-21, but two straight attack errors by the opponent clinched the set (25-21) and the match for the Dutchmen.
