How It Happened
Despite a furious comeback attempt, Lebanon Valley dropped an 8-6 contest to Elmira on Saturday night in ECAC West action. The Dutchmen fell to 0-3-1, 0-2-0 ECACW and the Soaring Eagles improved to 1-3-0, 1-1-0 ECACW.

Elmira jumped out to a big lead thanks to five first-period goals, but the Dutchmen didn't let that slow them down, as LVC scored two late goals in the opening period to cut the deficit to three at 5-2. Their first goal of the period came on the power play when Cole Hepler scored from Brad Nolan and Eric Higgins with a minute a five seconds remaining, then Hepler scored again just 15 seconds later off an assist from Matthew Reno.

Six minutes into the second period, Nolan scored a power play goal to make it a 5-3 contest, however three straight goals from the Soaring Eagles made it a five-goal game again at 8-3. At 7:41 in the third, Bryan Hovanec notched a goal on a two-man advantage and he followed that up with another power play goal at 8:25 to make it 8-5. With three minutes to go, Zach McKown cut the deficit to two with a tally from Travis Acker and Hovanec, but LVC ran out of time and Elmira held on for the narrow victory.
