ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley opened the dual-meet portion of its 2016 campaign by hosting Cabrini at the Arnold Sports Center for the program's annual Pink Meet on Friday night, Nov. 4.
LVC's men's team bested the Cavaliers 108-84 to pick up its first win of the season, while the women fell by a narrow margin of 107.5-97.5.
The Flying Dutchmen kicked off the meet by winning both the women's and men's 200-meter medley relay. The foursome of Madison Martin,
Leslie Hiller, Julianna Currie, and
Emily Walak took top honors with a time of 2:18.80, while the men's group of
Bryce Betz,
Ian Lloyd,
Ari Gouskos, and
Chris Kurtz touched in 1:55.86, less than a second and a half off the program-record time.
Lloyd kept things rolling by winning the 200m free event with a time of 2:06.62, while
Katie Gingrich and Gouskos followed him with back-to-back victories in the 50m-free races, with Gingrich touching in 31.20 and Gouskos finishing in 26.32.
D'Anna Sydow (1:16.17) and Hiller (1:17.25) went 1-2 in the 100m butterfly and Lloyd picked up his third victory of the night by taking the 100m fly with a time of 1:00.36 – just .05 seconds off his own program-record time in the event.
Kurtz earned a distance victory with his time of 4:32.64 in the 400m freestyle swim before Currie (1:26.45) and
Lauren Skorupski (1:28.67) finished 1-2 in the 100m breaststroke. Hiller, Gingrich, Walak, and Currie capped the women's event with a 200m freestyle relay win, as did their counterparts on the men's side when
Garrett Collins, Jay Ilgenfritz, Chandler Mumper, and Kurtz touched in a time of 1:56.46.
The Dutchmen won't be out of the pool long, as both teams travel to Wilkes for a 1 p.m. meet on Saturday afternoon.
