ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's and women's swim teams hosted Elizabethtown for pre-Thanksgiving action at the Arnold Sports Center on Monday night, Nov. 21. Both teams fell by almost the same score, with the women dropping a 131-74 decision to the Blue Jays, while the men's squad fell 131-73.
Fresh off setting program records in the 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter breaststroke events during LVC's last outing,
Ian Lloyd continued his strong effort by taking on a distance event and winning the 800-meter freestyle race with a time of 9:31.18, more than 30 seconds faster than David Foery, the runner-up from Elizabethtown.
Chris Kurtz was the team's second swimmer to pick up a victory as he touched in 2:22.52 to clinch the 200-meter IM before
D'Anna Sydow followed it up with a win in the women's 100-meter butterfly event thanks to her time of 1:15.90.
Julianna Currie and
Katie Gingrich finished 1-2 for the women in the 100-meter freestyle race, with Currie touching first in 1:07.38 and Gingrich coming home right behind her with a time of 1:09.12.
Garrett Collins was the final Dutchman to earn a victory when he earned a win in the 400-meter free-style event with a time of 4:49.65. Teammate
Michael Ballou earned the runner-up spot, touching in 5:08.00.
The Dutchmen will enjoy their Thanksgiving break before traveling to Stevenson for a meet with the Mustangs on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3 at 2 p.m.
