ANNVILLE, Pa. –
Ian Lloyd made history by breaking two program records during Lebanon Valley's meet against Goucher at the Arnold Sports Center on Friday night, Nov. 19. The men's team dropped a 118-72 decision to the Gophers, while the women were defeated 131-69.
Lloyd reset his own 200-meter butterfly record and also broke the mark previously set by
Bobby Burkhart in the 200-meter breaststroke. The junior touched the wall in 2:16.41 to win the fly event by nearly seven seconds over Jacy Macconvery, the runner-up from Goucher, before winning the breaststroke race in 2:39.04, more than 11 seconds quicker than Macconvery's second-place mark.
His fly time was .21 seconds quicker than the mark he originally set in 2014, while his breaststroke effort was more than two seconds faster than Burkhart, his former teammate.
Lloyd was also part of the men's 200-meter medley relay team that picked up a victory in the opening event. He joined
Bryce Betz,
Ari Gouskos, and
Chris Kurtz to post a time of 1:56.08, besting the Gophers' top team by almost seven seconds.
D'Anna Sydow earned the first solo victory of the night on the women's side for LVC, winning the 200-meter butterfly event with a time of 2:55.35; a mark nearly 10 seconds faster than Goucher's Rachel Kieffer in second place.
The ladies also capped the meet with a victory in the 200-meter freestyle relay as the foursome of
Katie Gingrich,
Kyra Valent,
Marie Gorman, and
Julianna Currie combined to touch the wall in 2:04.39. The group bested Goucher's top team by more than eight seconds.
LVC is back in the pool on Monday night, Nov. 21 when the teams host Elizabethtown for a little pre-Thanksgiving swimming at the Arnold Sports Center.
