Women's Basketball Advances to Rinso Marquette Championship Game

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley overcame a rough first quarter to defeat Penn State Altoona 81-44 on night one of the 2016 Rinso Marquette Tournament.

The Flying Dutchmen (1-1) fell behind 12-6 in the early going before cutting the deficit to a more manageable 19-17 at the end of the first quarter when Caroline Scarff knocked down a jumper to close out the period.

LVC began the second quarter with a 6-0 run to take the lead for the first time. Hilary Yoh's jumper just moments before the break to push the team's advantage to 40-29 at halftime.

The Dutchmen defense turned it on in the third and held Penn State Altoona to just five points in the 10-minute span. When Jennifer Eck hit Taylor Troutman for a fast-break layup with less than a minute left in the quarter upped the score 64-34.

It was all LVC in the fourth quarter as the team netted 17 points compared to just 10 by the Lions and all 10 of the Dutchmen players on the roster were afforded action in the contest.

Inside the Numbers
- Caroline Scarff had a great outing for the Dutchmen, finishing with a game-high 16 points on 8-11 shooting.
- Lexie Lantz was nearly as efficient, finishing 5-6 with 12 points and seven rebounds.
- Hilary Yoh finished one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.
- Jennifer Eck also just missed out on the double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.
- Becky Evans was the fifth Dutchman to reach the double-digit scoring mark with 10 points.
- LVC shot 52.2 percent from the floor compared to just 30.2 percent by the Lions.

Who's Next?
LVC hosts SUNY Geneseo in the Rinso Marquette Tournament Championship Game tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. The Knights defeated Penn State Harrisburg.
