ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's men's and women's swim teams hosted King's (Pa.) at the Arnold Sports Center for the first matchup of a three-meet homestand on Friday night, Nov. 11. Both teams fell to the Monarchs, the women by a 109-87 decision and the men by a 120-73 margin.
The men's 200-meter medley relay team of
Bryce Betz,
Ari Gouskos,
Ian Lloyd, and
Chris Kurtz continued their push to set a program record in the event but fell just two seconds shy of doing so with a time of 1:56.49.
Marie Gorman posted a MAC-qualifying time of 10:52.93 in the 800-meter freestyle race before Kurtz won the same event for the men with a time of 9:34.56.
Julianna Currie's strong freshman campaign continued as she finished less than a half second shy of winning the 50-meter freestyle event and Lloyd easily took the men's 200-meter IM race with a time of 2:18.31, nearly 10 seconds quicker than the runner-up from King's.
Kurtz earned his second victory of the night by winning the 100-meter butterfly, touching in 1:03.52, and Currie was solid in finishing as the runner-up in the women's 100-meter freestyle race.
In the men's 100-meter backstroke, Betz posted his best time (1:08.49) of the young season en route to earning the victory, while
Lauren Skorupski,
D'Anna Sydow, and
Danielle Burns finished 1-2-3 in the women's 100-meter breaststroke event.
The women finished strong with a pair of Dutchmen foursomes finishing 1-2 in the 200-meter freestyle relay race.
Katie Gingrich, Currie,
Leslie Hiller, and
Madison Martin won the event in 2:04.00, while the group of Gorman,
Catherine Orlando,
Casey Burke, and
Katie Frace earned a runner-up finish, touching in 2:14.32.
After the meet, the Monarchs stuck around and joined in as the Dutchmen filmed their own version of a mannequin challenge.
The Dutchmen are back in the pool next Friday night, Nov. 18 when they host Goucher at the Fish Bowl at the Arnold Sports Center at 6 p.m.
