How It Happened
Jake Kline with just under five minutes remaining in the second OT to give Lebanon Valley the 1-0 victory over Widener on Saturday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth men's soccer action. The Dutchmen improved to 9-2-0, 2-1-0 MACC, while the Pride fell to 2-8-1, 0-2-0 MACC.
In the 106th minute, after a Widener turnover,
John McHale ran down the left side of the field and shook a defender and was able to kick the ball into the middle of the box where Kline was waiting. Kline controlled the ball and rifled a ball off his left foot past the Pride's Dave Sousa for the thrilling 2OT winner. A frenzy then ensued, as Kline's teammates mobbed him, as well as LVC alumni on Homecoming Saturday.

For the majority of the match, the Dutchmen dominated action and saw several more scoring chances than Widener. Sousa, however, had an answer for nearly every offensive opportunity, except for the last one of the match.
Cam Avery only faced four shots (one on net) but he and the Dutchmen defense comprised of
Riley Katshir,
Nate Gibbons, and McHale were stellar throughout the victory.
