How It Happened
In its first NCAA DIII game since 2010, Lebanon Valley's men's ice hockey team was narrowly defeated by Stonehill College 3-2 on Saturday night at Hersheypark Arena. The Dutchmen fell to 0-1 and the Skyhawks improved to 1-0.

Zach McKown scored the first goal of the game, an unassisted tally that put LVC ahead 1-0 just 2:46 into the opening period. Stonehill struck back at 17:02 and tied it when Conor Cassidy netted an unassisted goal. The 1-1 tie held up after 20 minutes of action.

12:20 into the second period, LVC went ahead 2-1 when Brennan Thompson found the back of the net off assists from Eric Higgins and Cody Pessig and the Dutchmen went into the third period clinging to a 2-1 lead.

7:12 into the third period, the Skyhawks were on the power play and Connor Collier tied the contest at 2-2 thanks to an assist from Evan Jacques. Then, at the 12:48 mark, Cameron Wright scored what proved to be the game-winner for Stonehill. The Dutchmen had some scoring opportunities late in the third, but the Skyhawks were able to hold on for the narrow victory.
