How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dropped its first outing of tri-match play to Cabrini in three sets on Saturday morning, Oct. 29. The Flying Dutchmen (20-9) fell by set scores of 20-25, 15-25, and 16-25.
LVC jumped out to an 8-6 advantage in the first set when
Jess Attieh hammered home a kill off an
Erin Koons' assist midway through game. Another Attieh kill made it 14-12 Dutchmen moments later before the Cavaliers (14-14) went on a key run that forced the home team to call timeout trailing 20-17. Following the break, Cabrini used a 5-3 run to take the opener.
Back-to-back-to-back kills by
Nina Mentzer,
Amber Deshong, and Attieh off assists by
Greta Weidemoyer put Lebanon Valley ahead 10-8 in the second set but again the Cavaliers had an answer. The visitors scored seven in a row to take a 15-10 lead and rode that momentum to a second set victory that saw Cabrini score 10 of the set's last 14 points.
The Cavaliers kept it rolling in the third set and jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the Dutchmen were forced to burn a timeout in hopes of slowing the momentum but it wasn't to be as Cabrini led 16-6 midway through the game before sealing the game and the match thanks to a pair of LVC attack errors.

Greta Weidemoyer racked up a team-high 11 kills for LVC, and added a team-best 17 assists to go along with her seven digs.

Morgan Webb also dug out seven balls, while
Abbey Barnhart chipped in with five of her own.

- Cabrini's Emily Shannon (16), Anne-Marie Jones (13), and Kelly Guarino (12) each recorded double-digit kill totals.

How It Happened
Lebanon Valley bounced back from an opening-match loss to sweep Lancaster Bible in the final outing of the team's tri-match held on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 29. The Dutchmen (21-9) made quick work of the Chargers by set scores of 25-15, 25-14, and 25-13.
LVC started off strong and took a 6-1 first-set lead during an
Amber Deshong service run. Lancaster Bible (15-19) pulled even at 6-6 but the home team responded when
Greta Weidemoyer's kill off an
Erin Koons' assist to up the advantage to 11-8. The Chargers burned a timeout trailing 15-9 but it wouldn't matter as the Dutchmen notched 10 of the set's next 16 points, capped by a Koons' service ace.
Lebanon Valley erased an early 2-0 deficit and eventually took a 9-3 lead on a Weidemoyer kill that forced LBC to call timeout. Mackenzie Walck's kill off a Weidemoyer feed increased the advantage to 12-6 after the break and after the visitors drew to within 15-14, LVC reeled off the final 10 points, including three straight Deshong service aces to end the game.
The Dutchmen had to come from behind in the third set after falling behind 7-2 in the early going. LVC rattled off the next five points and kills by
Amanda Sides and
Jess Attieh prompted the Chargers to burn a TO trailing 16-12.
Allison Cable's ensuing service run was a fruitful one as LVC recorded the next five points before an Attieh kill sealed the set and match for the Dutchmen.

Jess Attieh led the way offensively with a match-high 14 kills on 28 total attacks.

Nina Mentzer and
Amber Deshong notched eight kills apiece and
Greta Weidemoyer added six of her own.
- Weidemoyer assisted on a team-high 24 points, while
Erin Koons tallied 13 assists.
- Weidemoyer added 10 digs, as did Attieh, and
Allison Cable dug out nine balls during the contest.
- Mentzer recorded both of LVC's solo blocks, while Deshong racked up six service aces.
Senior Day
Saturday also served as the volleyball program's Senior Day. Prior to the day's final matchup against Lancaster Bible, LVC head coach
Wayne Perry '78 took time to honor his three seniors in
Allison Cable,
Morgan Webb, and
Greta Weidemoyer.
