Wayne Perry

Wayne Perry '78

Wayne Perry enters his 34th season at the helm of the Lebanon Valley College volleyball team in 2020.

The architect of Lebanon Valley volleyball, Perry is the only head coach in program history. A five-time MAC Commonwealth Conference Coach of the Year, Perry has a 671-382 career record, ranking him ninth among active coaches in wins and 19th all-time in NCAA Division III. He was also named the ECAC South Coach of the Year in 2014. Perry is CAP Level I and II certified by the United States Volleyball Association.

Wayne has led the Dutchmen to championships six times, including four consecutive MAC Commonwealth crowns from 2008-11. Additionally, he has taken his squads to the ECAC Tournament 10 times and has won the championship twice. He has topped the 30-win plateau three times, while averaging over 20 wins a year for his career.

Perry has coached dozens of outstanding players. All American accolades have been received eight times at the Valley and dozens of players have earned All-Conference selections. Additionally, various players have received All-ECAC awards, MAC Commonwealth and ECAC Player of the Week nods, and two National Player of the Week (Natalie Goodfellow, 2006 and Greta Weidemoyer, 2016).

"I have high expectations for all of my players", Coach Perry states. "I want all of my players to learn and understand all of the positions. Players that can do many different things are valuable to the team and to adjusting in a tight situation. I'm extremely proud of the flexibility my players have had over the years. So much of our success has hinged on this flexibility".

Coach Perry emphasizes: "The team's success over the years speaks for itself. But to me, the most important things are the strong bonds and relationships we have established with our athletes. So many former players still stay in contact with us. So many volleyball alumni are still involved in the game as players, coaches, and even as mothers of future volleyball players. That's what I really call success".

Wayne is also a retired method development chemist with Bayer Health Care in Myerstown. Along with his wife, Diana, Wayne is an avid hiker, backpacker, and gardener. Wayne and Diana love to hike the high country in Wyoming and Montana, and both volunteer at a local state park, helping with trail maintenance and other work projects.
