How It Happened
Two first-half goals propelled Lebanon Valley's women's soccer team to a 3-1 triumph over Stevenson on Wednesday afternoon in MAC Commonwealth action. The Dutchmen jumped to 10-5, 4-3 MACC to stay in the playoff hunt, while the Mustangs dropped to 7-6-2, 4-2-1 MACC.

It was Stevenson who struck first, when Emily Lord took advantage of a turnover for the breakaway down the left side in the 30th minute. She was able to put the ball into the back of the net on the right side for the 1-0 lead. The momentum seemed to be in favor of the Mustangs, but LVC had different ideas.

In the 37th minute, Sammy Bost got open in the box and shot it, however it was blocked and the ball came right to the feet of Meghan Ross, who was able to and tie the game at 1-1. Only a minute and 26 seconds later, Samantha Machin received a cross from the left side from Rileigh Jo Evitts and Stevenson's goalie dove for the cross but missed, giving Machin an easy goal to make it a 2-1 contest.

The end of the first half was when things began to get chippy. With just eight seconds remaining in the half, a foul by the Dutchmen led to a yellow card and Stevenson's Brianna Christie retaliated, resulting in a red card. The Mustangs were forced to play the entire second half down a player.

Just after the second half began, Ross was fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty kick. Bost took the kick and converted, making it a 3-1 match, which held up for the rest of the game.

 - LVC held the edge in shots at 15-10 and shots on goal at 8-5.
