How It Happened
Brittany Fleisher's first-half goal proved the difference in Lebanon Valley's 1-0 shutout victory at Widener on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 15.
The senior captain's deciding score came off an assist from freshman
Mikayla Poole in the 24th minute and held up as the game's only tally as neither team managed to add a marker the rest of the way.
The victory ended a recent three-game skid for LVC (9-5, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth), while the home loss makes things more difficult for the Pride (6-7, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) as both teams find themselves in the thick of the playoff hunt as the season winds down.
It Was Over When…
Widener was awarded back-to-back penalty corners in the 52nd and 53rd minutes, respectively. Eliza Newlin even got off an attempt following the second corner but was turned away by LVC goalkeeper
Sarah DiMaggio. The Flying Dutchmen controlled the possession for much of the remaining time and the Pride were unable to get off another shot the rest of the way.
