How It Happened
Lebanon Valley dropped its third game in a row when the team suffered a 3-1 defeat at FDU-Florham on Wednesday night, Oct. 12.
After falling behind when the Devils' Kim Davis converted a penalty stroke in the game's 19th minute,
Maddie Fox drew the Flying Dutchmen (8-5) even when she netted the equalizer from eight yards out from the left side of the circle with 11:34 left in the first half.
FDU-Florham (8-5) was awarded another penalty stroke late in the opening half and again Davis converted the chance into points with her second goal of the game, giving the Devils a 2-1 advantage heading into the break.
The home team struck first in the second half as well, when Marissa Kowalskie made a move towards the right post and finished off her attempt from point-blank range to double the Devil advantage with 32:10 left to play.
LVC managed just two shots in the second half but neither attempts by Fox found their mark as the first was saved by FDU-Florham's Samantha Rubin and the second was blocked.
Turning Point
With LVC looking to cut into the deficit in crunch time, FDU-Florham's Brooke Sherwin was assessed a green card and LVC was awarded a penalty corner less than a minute later. The Dutchmen were unable to convert, however, as
Maddie Fox's shot with 3:34 remaining was blocked. Lebanon Valley wouldn't get another chance.
