How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team opened up MAC Commonwealth action with a close 1-0 loss to Messiah on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons stayed undefeated and moved to 7-0-3, 1-0 MACC, while the Dutchmen slipped to 7-2-0, 0-1 MACC.

It was a hard-fought game from start to finish on a wet and muddy Herbert Field. The match's loan tally came just under seven minutes into the contest when Messiah's David Alejos got a loose ball in front and juked out Cam Avery, who had come out of the net to attempt to dive on the ball, and Alejos snuck the ball past defender Nate Gibbons to make it a 1-0 match.

In a chippy game that saw two yellow cards, a red card, and 25 total fouls, Tyler Skye had an opportunity to even the match in the 72nd minute when he got past the defense on the left side of the box, but was unable to convert, keeping the Falcons ahead by one. Later in the second, in the 84th minute, Jake Kline saw a solid scoring chance as a he ripped a ball from just outside the box, but it sailed just high.

In the final minute of action, Gabe Stasyszyn had LVC's final scoring chance on a difficult one-timer, but it went just wide of the cage, and Messiah went on to edge the Dutchmen 1-0.
