How It Happened
READING, Pa. - Fresh off a holiday trip to Puerto Rico, Lebanon Valley returned to MAC Commonwealth play with a convincing 73-55 victory at Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.

The Flying Dutchmen (9-3, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) used a balanced attack to win their third conference game of the season. LVC was led by Kiely Chaklos' 13 points and Taylor Umbrell's 10 tallies. Lebanon Valley got strong efforts from its reserves as Peyton Carper netted eight, Rachel Kelly scored seven, and Hilary Yoh, Lexie Lantz, and Anne Lehr added six apiece off the bench.

The game was close early on, as a Peyton Carper free throw tied the first quarter at 8-8 with 5:21 to go. From there, Alvernia took over and ended the first quarter on a 12-6 run and led the Dutchmen 20-14. After the Crusaders' Jenna Wolff hit a 3-pointer to begin the scoring in the second quarter and put Alvernia up 23-14, LVC came storming back with a 13-4 spurt to tie the contest at 27-27 with 5:17 remaining.

For the final five minutes of action, the game remained close and Kiely Chaklos made a layup with 32 seconds to go that gave the Dutchmen a 38-35 lead heading into halftime.

LVC began to run away from Alvernia in the third quarter, as a Lexie Lantz jumper with five minutes to go put the Dutchmen up 51-37. With just over a minute remaining in the quarter, Anne Lehr gave LVC its biggest lead of the game to that point with a layup that made it 57-42 in favor of the Dutchmen heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, the Crusaders attempted to come back and came to within nine points at 61-52 with 6:01 left in the quarter, but a 12-3 run to end the game buried Alvernia, as a Bridget Rothert trey with 38 seconds to go gave the Dutchmen their largest advantage of the game at 73-55, which was the game's final score.
