How It HappenedA goal in each of one the halves pushed York (Pa.) past Lebanon Valley by a 2-0 score on Wednesday afternoon at Herbert Field. The Spartans improved to 3-6-1, while the Dutchmen fell to 3-6.
In the 16th minute, York's Nigel Robinson was fed with a great pass by Greg Bechard, resulting in a two-on-one that Robinson too advantage of, as he beat
Cam Avery right side for the 1-0 lead. LVC had some chances in the half, but the Spartans went into the break with a 1-0 advantage.
The Dutchmen saw a few more opportunities in the second half, but Matt Freibaum added some insurance for York in the 79th minute. Robinson ripped a shot that Avery saved, however the rebound bounced right in front to Freibaum and he knocked it in for the 2-0 lead.
Not So Average AveryDespite the result, Avery was again stellar between the pipes, making an impressive 10 saves on the day.
Inside the Numbers - York fired off 22 shots and made LVC make a lot of good defenses plays.
