How It HappenedJake Herron's overtime goal in the 96th minute gave Lebanon Valley a 2-1 win over Widener in thrilling fashion on Saturday night in Chester.
Herron scored the game's first goal in the 16th minute when he stole the ball from the defense and fired the ball into the top corner of the net for the upper-90 goal. The Dutchmen's defense kept the Pride off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half and LVC had a 1-0 lead at intermission.
In the 72nd minute, Widener broke through and tied the game when Zac Furia stole a loose ball from the defense and buried the goal to tie the contest at 1-1. Neither team could find the back of the net throughout the remainder of regulation, so overtime was needed to decide a winner.
At the 95:29 mark, Herron beat a defender and scored an unprotected goal with an assist from
Tyler Skye to give LVC the victory.
Inside the Numbers - The Dutchmen had 12 shots and four on net, while Widener ripped of 23 shots and 10 on goal.
