How It Happened
Lebanon Valley's men's soccer team saw its 1-0 halftime score disappear in the second half as Messiah scored four second-half goals to down the Dutchmen 4-2 on Tuesday night in Grantham.

Messiah had a few chances in the first half, as a cross from the right side with 25:30 remaining landed in the box, but Cam Avery punched it out with one hand to keep the contest scoreless. Just over 10 minutes later, LVC got on the board when Ian McGinnis used his speed and got through two defenders and beat the Falcons' goalie on the right side to make it 1-0 Dutchmen, which was the score heading into intermission.

Early in the second, LVC increased its lead when Alex Detweiler lofted a shot from Tyler Skye from around 25 yards out that somehow found the back of the net for the 2-0 Dutchmen advantage.

From there, Messiah went on to score four consecutive goals. Will Cochran scored in the 62nd minute to make it a 2-1 game and Jacob Bender tied the match in the 71st minute. Five minutes later, Colby Thomas put the Falcons ahead 3-2 with a goal and Cochran netted his second of the game in the 89th minute to make it 4-2.

Dutchmen Play Well Despite Result
Despite what it says on the scoreboard, LVC played well. Its defense kept the team in the game, as Messiah fired 34 shots, 11 on goal. Avery made seven stops on the day, a few of which were big saves that kept a lead for the Dutchmen. Another positive note is that the Falcons registered 15 corner kicks and none led to goals.

Several Conference Games Yet to Play
LVC's record moved to 4-7, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth and the Dutchmen are still right in the middle of the race. LVC has six games remaining in the regular season, all of which are conference matchups.

Who's Next?
The Dutchmen return home on Homecoming Saturday for a match with Alvernia at 4 p.m.
