How It HappenedAt the Franklin & Marshall Scramble on Saturday afternoon, Lebanon Valley came out 1-1 and finished the Scramble with a 2-1 mark after defeating Penn St.-Altoona 3-1 last night. The Dutchmen's overall record now sits at 4-4.
In the first match against the host school F&M, the Diplomats jumped out to a fast 6-1 lead, however LVC came storming back to tie it at 9-9 off of an
Amber Deshong kill. From there, the opening set stayed very close until the end, as each squad stayed within two points of each other. At set point for LVC, an attack error by Rachel Umberger clinched the first set for the Dutchmen at 25-23.
LVC controlled the second set early on with 9-3 lead and later a 13-7 advantage. However, F&M got to within three points of the Dutchmen at 16-13, but LVC never let them get any closer in the set as
Greta Weidemoyer sealed the second set with a kill for a 2-0 lead for the Dutchmen.
Looking for the sweep, LVC was tied with the Diplomats 10-10 in the third set. Later it was still close at 17-16 in favor of the Dutchmen, but LVC scored three points in a row to increase the lead to 20-16.
Allie Garrett ended the match in style with a service ace that gave the Dutchmen the 3-0 win.
In the second match against Randolph-Macon, the Yellow Jackets dominated LVC in the 3-0 victory. Randolph-Macon totaled 36 kills in the match, 15 service aces, six blocks, 31 assists and 38 digs.
Jess Attieh led the Dutchmen with nine kills, while
Emily Sides tallied 12 assists and
Rachel Moltz posted six digs.
Inside the Numbers Against F&MÂ - Weidemoyer led the attack with 14 kills and .429 hitting percentage, while Attieh added nine more.
 - Moltz racked up 28 assists in the match and she added 11 digs.
 - Garrett led the squad with 22 digs
Who's Next?LVC returns home for its first home match of the season on Tuesday when the Dutchmen jump back into MAC Commonwealth action with a 7 p.m. start time against Alvernia.
