How It HappenedLebanon Valley struck first but couldn't hold off Haverford's second half outburst in the team's 4-2 road loss to the Fords on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 12.
Kristen Garman put the Flying Dutchmen (2-3) on top 1-0 when she netted her first goal of the season less than three minutes into the game.
Rachel Gorman assisted on the play when she connected with Garman following an early penalty corner.
LVC looked poised to take the one-goal lead into halftime but Haverford (2-2) turned the tide in the first half's closing moments when Allison Martin found Stephanie Terrell for the equalizer off a penalty corner in the 35th minute.
The Fords took their first lead of the day early in the second half when Paige Carson converted a breakaway goal with 27:42 left to play.
Haverford's Paige Powell seemingly put things out of reach when she converted her first score of the year with just 7:12 remaining but LVC leading-scorer
Brittany Fleisher had an answer, netting her fourth goal of the young season and cutting the deficit to one with 6:50 left to play.
That's as close as the Dutchmen would get, however, as Carson ended LVC's comeback hopes when she scored her second goal of the day with less than three minutes to play.
Notable PerformanceKristen Garman – The senior captain was due. She netted what appeared to LVC's first goal of the season off a penalty corner in the team's opener against Lynchburg two weeks ago only to have it waived off. The defender's goal just moments into the contest on Saturday came on her only attempt of the day.
